I am a proudly queer, 3rd generation Latina who grew up speaking Spanglish and looking for a sense of belonging in both of the cultures that are a part of who I am. As a queer woman, I found that familismo, machismo, and other aspects of my Latinx heritage made me feel further alienated and “othered” within my own culture. It doesn’t have to be this way, and part of my work is helping others like me rebuild a connection with cultures that may be at odds with their queerness in order to find acceptance and healing for themselves.
The lack of belonging I felt growing up meant that coming of age and feeling at peace with myself was a messy process that I figured out thanks to guidance from people who embraced and accepted me as I was; I hope to be one of those supports for you as your therapist. This lived experience enables me to connect well with folks going through transitional life stages, struggling with “adulting”, and navigating challenges in all types of relationships.
Each day, I’m at work applying my training to develop and implement anti-oppressive treatment models for clients from all walks of life. I am a trauma informed therapist who pulls from various modalities in my work, while remaining flexible and adapting to your needs in each session. However, healing can only happen when you feel safe enough to be your authentic self. My goal as a therapist is to build a trusting relationship with my clients so that we can fully explore all aspects of their challenges in a gentle, non-judgemental space.
